The University District is one of Nanaimo’s most-established and most desireable neighbourhoods being in close proximity to Vancouver Island University, shopping, Nanaimo Aquatic Recreational Centres and parks. This area was formerly known as “Harewood”, and to some still is and will always be.
Homes in the University District come from every era: There are old character homes, many of them wonderfully maintained; there are also newer homes, and everything in between. Most properties have alley access and because of close proximity to VIU are great investments.
This development area of larger homes is perched high the city located on the other side, across the Nanaimo Parkway, from VIU. Just a short six minute drive to downtown and numerous highly used parks, lakes and trails.
Here you’ll find spectacular views of Nanaimo, the Georgia Strait and the mainland mountains. Most homes have huge windows to catch the sunrises. The properties themselves are usually steep, with beautiful rockwork and decks and terraces, giving the neighbourhood a very interesting aspect.
